Description: Holly Springs High School and the Holly Springs Theatre Company sponsors the Local HSHS Troupe of the International Thespian Society. The International Thespian Society is the only organization to honor secondary school students for outstanding work in theatre. Thespian membership is granted for the performance of meritorious work in theatre arts which meets the Society’s guidelines.
ITS members are directly involved in the production of the three productions produced by the theatre arts department: a fall play, a spring musical and a spring play.
Membership: Any student is welcome to work with the group to earn points towards membership into the International Thespian Society. Students can also participate in drama department productions without officially joining ITS. To qualify for membership in the ITS, a student must participate in at least two productions each year for a total of 100 hours of work.
Q: WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BECOMING A THESPIAN?
There are many:
- membership in national organizations looks GREAT on a college application
- you earn advanced recognition for your theatre accomplishments
- you will receive a one year subscription to Dramatics magazine (9 issues)
- you will be eligible to audition for college scholarships at state and national Thespian events
- you will be eligible for ITS scholarships
- you will receive a membership card and certificate proclaiming your status as a Thespian
Q: IF I JOIN, WHERE DOES MY MONEY GO?
Your initiation fee is a one time cost. If you join as a sophomore, you'll never have to pay any dues again. The fee pays for local troupe costs (registration, mailings, etc.), your initiation packet, your subscription to Dramatics magazine, and your lifetime ITS dues. (If you wish to keep your Dramatics Magazine subscription after your first year, it will cost you a mere $10 per year.)
