Make sure you understand what your monologue means. If you need to translate it, do so. If you need to read the scene containing your monologue, do so. If you need to read the entire play, do so. Anybody can memorize a few lines of text. Make us believe you believe the words you say, which can only be accomplished by knowing what the text means.
